Krakow, Budapest & Vienna
After a sweet visit with LJ in Berlin we continued our tour of Europe by train with visits to Krakow, Poland, followed by Budapest, Hungary and finally Vienna, Austria. We enjoyed learning about each countries distinct culture and history. Loved eating our way through each place as well! A common theme of ours.
Our first stop, Krakow, Poland. Laura and Sean both have ancestors in Poland. Sean's grandmother, Nana K, makes some outrageously delicious pierogis, let's see how they hold up in Polska!

We took an hour bus from Krakow to further learn about WWII, which Sean's grandmother was involved in, taken from her family by the Nazi's and forced to work. Our destination was without question the saddest and most unfortunate place we have been anywhere on Earth, the Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration and extermination camps, site of the largest mass murder in human history. The visit was depressing and terrifying. We chose not to take many photos from our time spent at either...

After an emotionally exhausting visit, we took a bus back to Krakow and hung low for evening. The following morning we took the first train out to Budapest, Hungary, where we would have a more uplifting experience with visits to many of the thermal baths...

A day lounging like a local at a Budapest thermal bath...

From Budapest we caught a 3 hour bus to Vienna, Austria. Home to Mozart and wiener schnitzel, we enjoyed our time exploring yet another beautiful city...

Our visits through Poland, Hungary, and Austria conclude the first half of our trip through Europe, it has truly been awesome to say the least! However we are very very excited for our final leg of our European adventure, which includes tons of family time with upcoming visits from the Fitzgibbons in Greece and the Leone's in Italy!
But first to set the stage, a visit to the Adriatic Sea for some island hopping, booze cruises, and waterfalls in Croatia with special guest Sean's cousin the Yillster!!!
So happy you were able to visit the mother country along with it’s tragic history. Can’t wait to see you kids!!
Love and hugs.
Surfing in Old World Europe!
Amazing to follow your adventure…….so happy for you!

Hi Laura and Sean,
Your travel log is so beautiful. You are so lucky to be able to travel the world. Heidi went to college for four months in Budapest, and I got to visit her, and we went to Vienna and Prague. I loved it there! I had the chance to go back last year! Europe is beautiful. Glad you are enjoying yourselves. I know your parents loved Italy!
Thanks for following us! Europe was so fun and great to explore 🙂
