PORTUGAL
Amazing how time flies! After three incredible months of travel through South America and Africa we embark on a new continent, a four month adventure through Europe!!! We are very excited about this next phase of our journey!
We decided we would attempt to travel West to East through Europe, and there is no European country farther west than Portugal, a very special place for Laura as her great grandfather was born and raised in Lisboa (Lisbon) and her great grandmother on the Portuguese island of Sao Miguel.
After a grueling 48 hours of travel from Africa that included flights from South Africa to Botswana, a 10 hour layover in Ethiopia and a quick pit stop in Rome, we finally arrived in Portugal! Our home for the next three nights would be Lisbon, the oldest city in Western Europe predating the likes of Paris, Rome, and London!
Exhausted, we grabbed a double espresso and set off to explore the city...

The cobblestone streets, classic Fado sound, and relaxed vibe made Lisbon possibly our favorite city to explore to date! Eventually it was time to sightsee and one of Eurpoe's more unique and colorful palaces was just an hours train ride away in the town of Sintra. We booked our train ticket and strolled through the Pena National Palace...

After chilling in Laura's Palace and hanging in beautiful Lisbon it was time to get out of the city and head to the beach! We hopped on a four hour bus towards the Southern coastal town of Lagos famous for its sandy coves, Lagos was such a gem...

Portugal, its been real! We had such an amazing time getting to explore Lisbon and Lagos, wish we would have stayed longer but we will be back... if anyone wants to join?!
Now time for some tapas, flamenco, and bull fights... off to Spain!
Yet again, looks amazing! I am up for visiting Portugal.
Hugs,
Mom
